| This position serves as a primary law enforcement contact for civil and criminal insurance laws and industry regulations. Special Agents must be AZPOST-certified peace officers (or within three years of active certification) and pass rigorous hiring requirements, including interviews, background investigation, polygraph, and medical and drug testing.
Under the supervision of a Special Agent Supervisor, agents conduct complex investigations at the state, national, and international levels, often working independently and in coordination with other law enforcement agencies. The role involves extensive investigative work such as research, interviews, arrests, undercover operations, irregular schedules, and frequent travel, including interstate and international assignments.
The position is distinguished by its authority to prepare affidavits for warrants, searches, seizures, wiretaps, and arrests, and by the complexity of cases handled. Agents investigate sophisticated financial and insurance-related crimes, including fraud, vehicle theft, illegal enterprises, and organized criminal activity, and may conduct follow-up investigations in foreign countries. |
