Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Aerospace at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a coordinator-track faculty position (#101050) at the rank of instructor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a minimum of 12 credit hours of introductory aerospace courses and other courses related to their experience or certification. Additionally, the candidate will be provided with 3 credit hours of course release and expected to lead the department’s initiatives in student wellness and mental health awareness, undertake a limited amount of collaborative scholarship, and be actively involved in university and industry professional service as part of this initiative. The successful candidate will be required to teach classes in traditional on-campus classrooms, online, and off-campus locations.

Required Education

A master's degree in aerospace, aviation, management, or a closely related field, is required by the appointment date.

Required Related Experience

Two (2) years of full-time aerospace industry or military aviation work experience, AND one (1) year of full-time certified flight instructor (CFI) experience or one (1) year of full-time collegiate teaching experience by the appointment date.

Required License/Registration/Certification

An FAA Private Pilot Certificate is required.

Other Desirables

Applicants with experience coordinating or managing aerospace mental health wellness programs, or with FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), or other FAA certificates in flight, maintenance, ATC, or Dispatch will receive special consideration.
