Duties and Responsibilities:
• Acts as liaison for outsourced grounds keeping and landscaping maintenance, vendors related to the maintenance and repair of facilities.
• Assess landscaping equipment issues to be repaired and perform the work needed for the repair or refer to vendor when needed. (mowers, trucks, trailers, etc.)
• Manage maintenance of exterior landscaping such as flowerbeds and bushes.
• Maintains cost effective yard services and landscaping records.
• Reviews all requests for grounds keeping and landscaping services and/or work orders to set priority and implement.
• Responsible for lawn pesticide/fertilizer application.
• Acts as a contact person for annual inspections related to fire safety, i.e. State Fire Marshall, fire extinguishers, Office of Risk Management, and alarm system and reports to the Director of Facilities.
• Pressure wash sidewalks and walking paths.
• All other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, and handle or feel objects and controls.
• Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment such as, but not limited to, a personal computer, calculator.
• Must be capable of standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, pushing, and pulling within the scope of assigned duties.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to maintain focus.
• May be occasionally required to drive a motor vehicle locally and out of town.
Required Education:
• Associate degree or at 5-7 years of professional work experience in landscaping, grounds-keeping, or maintenance.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Good customer service skills and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of equipment and mechanically inclined.
• Valid Driver's license.
• Private Applicator pesticide/fertilizer certification preferred.
