The Adjunct Adult Education Instructor will provide instructional services to adults and youths who are out of school in basic skills such as reading, writing, and mathematics. Responsible for increasing the students' educational functioning level and preparing students to obtain their high school equivalency diploma and/or industry-based credentials (IBC) to secure entry-level employment or advance in their current occupation. This position requires proactive communication, timely and accurate service to internal and external partners, accountability for follow-up and follow-through, and a continuous improvement mindset aligned with LDCC's Standards of Practice for excellence, collaboration, and service.

This position reports to the Director of Admissions and Recruiting and is responsible for promoting South Louisiana Community College to all prospective student types. The incumbent guides prospective students through the stages of the enrollment process, including application, pathway selection, entry advising, registration, applying for financial aid, and securing courses, by providing access, information, and connectivity to Student Affairs. The incumbent must exhibit excellent customer service, presentation, problem-solving, and communication skills in all settings. Evening and weekend hours are required as assignments and demands dictate.

BayouSTEM is the LaSTEM Region 3 STEM Center. We operate in partnership with Fletcher Technical Community College to support the STEM needs in Assumption, Lafourche, and Terrebonne parishes while collaborating with other Regional STEM Centers in the state of Louisiana. Our collective goal is to increase STEM equity and access through a “K to Gray” approach. The regional STEM centers support K-12, Technical/Community College and University STEM Pathways, Community partners, and business and industry partners in improving STEM access to increase interest in STEM careers and support the STEM demands of our region. The STEM Program Coordinator will assist the STEM Center Director with the operation of and with planning and implementing events hosted and supported by BayouSTEM, the LaSTEM Region 3 STEM Center.
