This grant-funded position represents the College for the purposes of general advising, outreach, promoting student enrollment, student retention, and management of Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and students. As a key member of the SOWELA WorkReady U Adult Education Program, the Adult Education (WorkReadyU) Instructor—Transition Coordinator is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality instruction in Adult Basic Education (ABE) and Adult Secondary Education (ASE) to prepare eligible adult learners—including out-of-school youth age 16 and older for the high school equivalency test (GED or HiSET), postsecondary education, and workforce readiness. This position supports the mission of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Title II by integrating academic instruction with digital literacy, career pathways, and employability skills to promote learner success and self-sufficiency. In addition to instructional duties, the Transition Coordinator component of the role provides individualized transition planning, academic and career advising, and resource navigation to support students as they move from adult education into higher education, training programs, or employment. The position collaborates closely with faculty, workforce partners, and college departments to ensure seamless transitions and sustained student progress toward educational and career goals.
Instructor - Aviation Maintenance Technology	SOWELA	Lake Charles, LA

Using various instructional techniques, approved maintenance practices, and the FAA Airman Certification Standards (ACS), teach students how to inspect, maintain, and repair aircraft and helicopter systems. Responsible for adhering to guidance and legal requirements from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE), and other accreditation authorities, to maintain certification as an FAA 14 CFR Part 147 maintenance school. A College Navigator supports a student according to personalized principles by (but is not limited to) following best practices: • getting to know advisees on a deeper level (knowing a student’s goals, interests, strengths, and challenges). • proactive/intrusive advising and the creation of individual student success plans. • maintenance of detailed advising notes and student records. • outreach to specific populations. • intentional referrals to other departments and services. • regular communication and follow-up with student to monitor progress and address success barriers; and continuous evaluation of the effectives of the advising process
