What you will be doing in this role
Reporting to the Director, Procurement & Supply Chain, this is a full-time, permanent position where you will lead the strategic procurement and category management agenda across Sydney Adventist Hospital’s clinical portfolio, covering medical and surgical consumables, pharmaceuticals, prostheses and implants, theatre products, clinical equipment, devices and purchased services.
Partnering closely with clinical leaders, you will lead complex sourcing initiatives, tenders and commercial negotiations, while driving product standardisation, supplier performance, cost improvement and supply resilience. You'll play a key role in clinical product evaluation and governance, ensuring sourcing decisions balance patient safety, clinical efficacy, operational requirements and value.
Beyond traditional procurement, you'll provide leadership across product recalls, safety notices, supplier quality concerns and clinical product risks, working closely with Clinical Governance, Infection Prevention & Control, Pharmacy, Biomedical Engineering and other key stakeholders. You'll also lead and develop your team, drive continuous improvement and act as a trusted procurement advisor to senior leaders.
Who we’re looking for
You are a strategic and experienced procurement or supply chain leader who understands the unique complexities of clinical products and healthcare environments. You combine strong commercial expertise with an understanding of clinical governance, patient safety and product risk.
You're confident leading complex sourcing and commercial negotiations, influencing senior clinicians and executives, and making evidence-based decisions where quality, safety, value and continuity of supply all matter.
To be successful, you will bring:
- Strong experience in senior procurement, category management or supply chain roles
- Strong strategic sourcing, category management and commercial negotiation expertise
- Healthcare or other complex, regulated industry experience
- Understanding of clinical governance, patient safety and healthcare supply chain requirements
- Experience managing clinical product, supplier quality or product-related risks
- Strong stakeholder influencing and relationship management skills
- Demonstrated leadership, change management and team development capability
- Tertiary qualifications in Supply Chain, Business, Commerce or a related discipline
- Clinical qualifications and/or significant clinical product management experience highly regarded
