Job Description:
The IT Business Analyst will design new IT solutions to improve business efficiency and productivity and teach courses in Information Technology. Work closely with clients, examine existing business models and the flows of data in Enterprise Resource Applications (Ellucian Banner, etc.), discuss findings with clients, and then design an appropriate IT solution. Draw up and specify costs and resources, and produce outline designs of clients’ requirements, specifying the data, files and logical operations the system will perform and the way data will be viewed by the user. Work closely with the technical teams to collaborate on solutions.
Other responsibilities include liaise extensively with external or internal IT clients; produce project feasibility reports; translate client requirements into highly specified project briefs; identify options for potential solutions and assess them for both technical and business suitability; create logical and innovative solutions to complex business problems; draw up specific proposals for modified or replacement systems; present proposals to clients; work closely with developers, technical teams and report writers, and a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction; ensure that budgets are adhered to and deadlines met; draw up a test schedule for the complete system; oversee the implementation of a new system; plan and work flexibly to a deadline; provide training to users of the new system, if necessary; keep up to date with technical and industry sector developments; contact clients and vendors on an as-needed basis.
The Individual will instruct courses in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science and other courses related to Information Technology.
Specific Duties and responsibilities include the following:
1. Provide business and technical guidance and support to technology staff members and consultants to ensure all standards and procedures are met for the development, reporting, operational data stores, and data warehousing environments.
2. Develop and maintain institutional policies, procedures, and standards related to business system analysis, databases, operational data stores, data warehousing, reports, and report deployment from enterprise resource planning system (Ellucian Banner, etc.).
3. Liaise and conceptualize client’s business request and applications through design, development, and analysis.
4. Develop operational, management, and executive ad-hoc and production reports for the institution.
5. Monitor design, reporting, operational data stores and data warehousing environments and test new technologies in these same areas as required.
6. Maintain skills sets by attending professional training.
7. Maintain liaison role with various end-user departments to ensure good service.
8. Ability to manage, plan, guide, report, and coordinate the work of a team of information technology and support personnel in the management and/or support of the institution’s system analysis, enterprise applications, reporting, operational data stores, and data modeling.
9. Instruct courses related to information technology.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in business IT, computer science, engineering or closely related field.
• Two years of business systems analysis/data modeling, application development in higher education and Ellucian Banner environment.
• Experience must include a minimum of one year of reporting, business intelligence, or data warehousing; and SQL or Oracle relational database management systems.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Crystal Reports required.
