As the drywall technician, you will be responsible for applying drywall to walls or ceilings and fastening drywall panels to the inside framework of buildings. In this position you will prepare panels for painting by taping or finishing joints, smooth out imperfections, work with ceiling tile installers to build walls, and read blueprints and designs. Responsibilities include measuring, cutting, fitting, and fastening panels; preparing panels by sawing, drilling, or cutting holes for electrical outlets, air-conditioning units, and plumbing; screwing panels to wood or metal framework; and using a lift to place ceiling panels. This job requires you to fill joints in-between panels and cover nail and screw depressions with spackle, spreading it with trowels. Additionally, you will smooth away excess material, press paper tape into compound and apply multiple coats of it, and sand areas after each coat.
