Topeka

As a municipal university with a motto of Non Nobis Solum (Not for Ourselves Alone), Washburn University values its strong connection to the Topeka and Shawnee County communities. Additionally, we value the learning and development opportunities that our community partners can offer our students while the students are giving their time and talents to make a positive impact in the local community.
As a higher education institution of learning, Washburn is heeding the call from the White House and Department of Education to place more university students in the community, particularly with K-12 programs the support youth education as tutors, mentors, student success coaches, and other student support roles. We have opportunities with both before/after school programming and directly in the schools.
These positions are open to any major as students engaged in this work learn skills that are generalizable to a wide variety of professions and settings. For example, it is an opportunity to increase skill sets such as leadership, communication, problem solving, teamwork, working with people different than yourself, project planning and implementation, relationship building, etc.
For more information about these positions, please fill out and submit the application and/or contact the Aleshire Center for Leadership & Community Engagement at aleshirecenter@washburn.edu. |
