We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable instructor to teach CTAR 329: Performing Theatre for the Young and CTAR 529, Producing Theatre for the Young, two cross-listed courses connected to the EMU Theatre for the Young Tour. The EMU Theatre for the Young Tour was created in 1968 under the direction of professor emerita Thelma McDaniel with the goal of creating innovative and engaging ways to perform for first-time audience members and young people. Over half a century later, the EMU Theatre for the Young Tour still strives to meet that original goal as well as connecting students in southeast Michigan to high quality art for their age group. The EMU Theatre for the Young Tour operates on a semesterly basis. During a tour season, a production will be performed in schools, community centers, and libraries in Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor, Livonia, and Plymouth to name a few.

The EMU School of Communication, Media & Theatre Arts request a Full-time Lecturer Position for Assistant Director of Forensics. The Assistant Director of Eastern Michigan University’s nationally ranked Forensic Team would be responsible for assisting the Director of Forensics and would teach courses every semester in the area of their expertise. This position will coach a team of approximately 20-30 undergraduate competitors and assist the Director of Forensics with ensuring the mental, physical, and academic well-being of all competitors on the team. In addition, they will work with maintaining the budget, travel planning, help meet competitive deadlines, and set entries for individual tournaments throughout the academic year. They will also assist the Director of Forensics in hosting at least one collegiate tournament at EMU every year as well as certain team-related social gatherings, as needed. The desired candidate will have at minimum a Master’s degree in Communication or Theatre Arts, have experience coaching a collegiate forensics team and have experience teaching at the college level. The candidate is required to have a valid US Driver’s license. The School of Art & Design invites applications for Part-Time Lecturer positions in the undergraduate program. We are currently seeking several additional instructors to teach Art Education, possibly Fibers and Art History. Depending on the needs of the program, which vary in the regular Fall and Winter terms, we may seek new Part-Time Lecturers to typically teach non-majors courses in studio art and art appreciation, courses in studio art, and/or art history courses. Teaching may include a number of particular obligations which employees are expected to fulfill, including but not limited to: meeting with students during and outside of assigned classes, assessing student work and performance, preparing syllabi and course materials, providing copies of syllabi and course materials to their supervisor on request, and assigning and submitting grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University schedules. Applicants must possess, or be in process of completing, a terminal degree in their field (MFA for studio art and design courses or PhD for Art History). Prior teaching experience at the college level is strongly preferred. For studio art courses professional experience and teaching within higher education may be considered commensurate to a terminal degree.
