Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Student Accounting Services Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive support across multiple functional areas within the office and serving as a cross-trained resource to assist staff as needed. The position requires in-depth knowledge of current and former student accounts, collection accounts, student refunds, and 1098-T tax reporting processes. The incumbent must maintain a working knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and institutional regulations governing these areas and ensure compliance in the administration of related duties.
The Specialist serves as a primary resource for students, parents, and campus stakeholders by delivering exceptional customer service and responding to inquiries through phone, email, and online chat interactions. This role provides accurate guidance, resolves account-related questions, and assists individuals in understanding institutional policies and procedures. The position also supports operational continuity within the Student Accounting Services team by providing service coverage across multiple functions while fostering a positive, professional, and customer-focused experience.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree required. Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Two years of experience is required. Experience with student financial services, internal or external collections, and accounting or finance is preferred.

Job Duties:
- 50% - Processes student refunds and assists with pre-collect and collection activities. - (Essential)
- 35% - Responds to incoming phone calls, chats and emails regarding general office and student account inquiries while providing excellent customer service. - (Essential)
- 10% - Manages multiple tasks involving 1098T processing, account reconciliations, invoices, data audits, former student payment plans, and bankruptcy notifications.
- 5% - Supports the office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned.
