| The Assistant Director assists in the operations of the Office of First-Year Courses and Learning Communities, including curriculum oversight and instructional delivery. The Assistant Director manages and assists with comprehensive programs to meet the needs of first-year students and Student Success Seminar instructors both inside and outside of the classroom. The Assistant Director assists with scheduling, instructor assignment (including hiring and evaluation), curriculum design, assessment, and communication with students, faculty, staff, and University leaders. The Assistant Director represents the Office with University partners and the University with external groups involved in work relating to first-year instruction and learning communities. Other duties as assigned. |

| Advises assigned students for the purpose of assisting them in establishing plans and goals. Provides onboarding services to assist with required petitions, transfer credits, and course scheduling. Assists with graduation clearance process for assigned students. Reports to Associate Dean and works closely with other college advisors Dean to learn curriculum of relevant departments and assist and track curricular processes and changes. Utilizes university resources such as DegreeWorks, Advising 360, Banner, and Slate to process information and keep timely and accurate records. Interacts with students through meetings, phone, and/or email to troubleshoot or problem solve advising and retention challenges. |
