QU-Drake United College, a unique joint degree program between Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and Qingdao University in Qingdao, China invites applicants for two faculty positions for the Fall 2025. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree, or near completion, in Biology or a related area. One position will be expected to teach General and Pre-Professional Biology I (topics include introductory-level cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and genetics) with labs in the fall semester and Genetics and Cell Biology (lectures only) in the spring semester. The second position will be expected to teach General and Pre-Professional Biology II (topics include introductory-level ecology, evolution, biological diversity, and animal physiology) with labs in the fall semester and Anatomy & Physiology with labs in the spring semester. |

This position encompasses a range of responsibilities centered on costume design and construction.
1.) This faculty member will teach two courses in both fall and spring semesters. Course #1, THEA031 COSTUMING meets Tuesday/Thursday from 9:30-10:45 and includes a Costuming Lab (THEA031L) that meets Monday through Friday from 3pm-5pm. Course #2 THEA032 STAGE MAKEUP meets Monday/Wednesday from 12:30-1:45.
2.) Faculty member will be responsible for designing costumes for the Department of Theatre Arts productions of CABARET (October 2-5) and LITTLE WOMEN (April 2-5). This entails research and analysis of period and location, rendering designs and overseeing their construction in consultation with the director, as well as attending production meetings and technical rehearsals as part of the larger production team for each show.
3.) Mentoring student design work for other productions and supervising construction in the Costume Studio. The supervisor is responsible for maintaining costume equipment and inventory as well.

Drake University Head Start offers a comprehensive early childhood program. We are seeking professional candidates to serve as Teacher Associate Substitutes/Floaters at Drake Head Start locations across the Des Moines Metro area. We have multiple openings available.
Teacher Associates assist the teacher and child in daily activities in the classroom. They participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of a developmentally appropriate practice. Teacher Associates work with the teacher to develop activities for children based on their interests and individual needs. They will encourage the children to develop a positive self-concept through supportive and cheerful interaction. Teacher Associates also assist with instruction by following lesson plans while adapting plans to meet individual learning styles. Partnering with the teacher, the Teacher Associate promotes successful classroom performance for each student.
Teacher Associates will do light cooking, assist the teacher, and work directly with the children. Some time spent completing required paperwork, including assisting teachers with documentation and observations of the students.
This position may include completing home visits for the Head Start and Early Head Start programs. This position will involve travel within a six county service area (Boone, Story, Jasper, Marion, Polk and Warren counties). Therefore, the successful candidate must have a valid drivers license and must meet the insurability criteria to drive on behalf of the University. |

The ideal candidate will be passionate about encouraging children ages 0-5 to develop a positive self-concept through supportive and cheerful interaction. The role consists of light cooking, personal care (toileting, hand washing, teeth brushing), participating in the development of activities for children based on their interests and individual needs, and completing some required paperwork.
