About the role
The position of Personal Care Worker is part of an integrated team of people working within an established and agreed framework attending to the personal needs of residents. The Personal Care Worker role is instrumental to ensuring that we are providing high quality care to our residents at all times. Care Service Employees work within the aged care team to promote the delivery of quality care to residents and their families, demonstrating competence in the provision of resident-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Work within an established and agreed framework to deliver a range of personal care tasks, including, but not limited to daily hygiene, for example: showering; shaving; dressing; mouth and eye care
- Observe the condition of residents and report any changes to the Enrolled Nurse or Registered Nurse, Facility Manager or appropriate person as well as completing the required documentation
- Respect each resident and ensure that they are treated with dignity and given opportunities for making decisions particularly concerning their day to day routine
- Assist residents who require assistance with mobility as per care plan. Residents are to be encouraged to remain ambulatory and independent
- Support residents to live the life they choose allowing them to exercise choice and independence.
- Contribute to the physical, emotional and lifestyle needs and wants of the residents, through assessment and observation.
- Implement clinical and care interventions as delegated by the Registered Nurse, and as documented in the resident’s plan of care.
What you bring
- Certificate III in individual support, or equivalent recognised qualification
- Effective interpersonal communication; both written and verbal
- A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission based organisation
- Ability to engage with residents and experience in dementia support
- Effective interpersonal communication; both written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads
- Demonstrated flexibility, empathy and patience with the aged person and their needs
- Demonstrated ability to provide holistic care
- Demonstrated respect for residents’ privacy, dignity and self esteem
- Commitment to continuous quality improvement
- Working knowledge of WH&S and Infection Control
