| The Office of Drinking Water (ODW) provides regulatory oversight and technical assistance to
public waterworks across Virginia, supported by a diverse team with expertise in biology,
engineering, geology, water operations, laboratory work, and administrative services. We are
seeking an Environmental Specialist Sr for Public Water to join our Lexington Field Office. In this role, you will help ensure safe drinking water for communities including Greene, Page,
Rockbridge, Shenandoah, Buena Vista City, and Lexington. This position plays a vital part in
upholding state and federal Safe Drinking Water Act requirements through inspections and
monitoring that support public health.
As an Environmental Specialist Sr, you will provide technical assistance to groundwater-based waterworks, conduct inspections and sanitary surveys, interpret regulations for waterworks owners and operators, and guide systems in maintaining or returning to compliance. You will also train operators on proper operation and maintenance practices and offer clear, accessible information to the public about drinking water quality. This role offers the opportunity to directly protect and promote the health of Virginians while working as part of a mission-driven agency with a statewide presence and strong commitment to community well-being. |
