Job Duties
- Assist with acquiring, organizing, preserving, and providing access to archival resources,
including records, documents, books, and photographs.
- Assist with acquiring, organizing, preserving, and providing access to gallery artifacts,
such as ceramics, furniture, statues, and textiles.
- Support managing and maintaining archives and gallery collections and facilities for
public access and usage.
- Support recruiting, training, and supervising archival and gallery student workers and
volunteers.
- Facilitate requests to access archives and gallery by students, faculty, staff, researchers,
and the public.
- Conduct orientations on and tours of the archives and gallery for campus visitors and
group events.
- Respond to archives and gallery research questions by visitors and users, including in person, by phone, and through email.
- Digitize documents and images to further develop the online collections of the archives.
- Serve as designated records officer for the University by providing information and
training to campus departments regarding state records retention and disposition.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position is responsible for supervising student workers and volunteers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in History, American Studies, or similar field.
- At least one year of experience working in an archive or library.
- A strong commitment to public service and customer service orientation.
- Ability to collaborate with others and work as a part of a team.
- Good information management and technology skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Considerations
- Knowledge of archives preservation requirements and storage needs.
- Knowledge of museum conservation and exhibition methods.
- Experience maintaining business records or government documents.
