Job Duties

To provide support to the Virginia Parole Board as it manages discretionary parole, conditional release, and supervision of persons on parole or release in the best interest of the Commonwealth of Virginia with due regard for public safety, respect for victims of crime, and the suitability of offenders for parole or release. Investigates and makes
recommendations to the Governor relative clemency and parole appeals.

Provides case management and oversight of the Parole and Post Release Supervision violation and discharge process as ordered by the Virginia Parole Board. Serves as the Post Release Unit liaison to assigned Virginia Probation and Parole Districts for the purpose of monitoring and resolving issues related to parole and post release supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

Recent experience working directly with diverse groups of clients, co-workers and community agencies in a criminal justice and/or human services setting to accomplish collaborative and individual goals. Recent experience providing high volume case management supervision and documenting case activities on an on-going basis
in a fast-paced criminal justice and/or human services setting. Experience providing counseling and targeted intervention to criminal justice and/or human services clients on an ongoing basis in a fast paced, high-volume setting. Experience making referrals to service/program providers and to management for review. Experience gathering
information, creating and presenting reports to criminal justice &/or judiciary entities, administrative officials, courts or the Parole Board. Demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Office to include Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Additional Considerations

Advanced knowledge in Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, Sociology/Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a related human services field or equivalent applicable training or experience.
