The part-time advocate is integrated into the Center for Access to assist staff with supporting students with disabilities at Southwest.
The advocate will assist with daily activities for the Center for Access Office. Duties include but are not limited to: notetaking, scribing, reading exams, and planning/assisting with LEAD organization activities. Advocate may assist in Center for Access new/renewal intake sessions. Maintain assigned caseload of Center for Access registrants. Must have dependable transportation to travel to all campuses/centers as needed. Advocates will work a maximum of 25 hours per week. The is an in-person role and any virtual hours will be left to the discretion of the department head. |

Student Help: Title III Peer Mentor / Coach

| This is a part-time student position funded by Title III IDEAS Grant. Peer mentors/coaches are integrated into advising center or other campus offices, to assist professional advisors or student success coaches and faculty/staff with supporting students at Southwest.
Mentors might handle referrals to campus resources, study skills coaching, or pre-registration education, which frees up professional coaches and advisors to focus on complex advising cases. Peer mentors may be “on call” for a set number of hours each week, to handle referred and walk-in students. Or, programs may require peer mentors to hold several meetings each term with students, either one-on-one or in groups. |

| This is a part-time, grant-funded, temporary position in the Workforce and Community Solutions department. Southwest Tennessee Community College aims to employ part-time instructional supporters/tutors to provide learning support, course reinforcement, and coaching to students in one or more of the qualified subject areas.
Part-time instruction supporters/tutors will provide tutoring sessions and/or perform front desk duties. Supplemental instruction is a non-traditional method of tutoring that provides group study support outside the classroom through discrete study sessions to supplement the in-class lessons. Part-time instruction supporters/tutors are responsible for attending all lectures for their assigned class(es) and providing two 1-hour study sessions per week. Peer supplemental instruction leaders/tutors will also serve as role models for other Southwest students. |
