Job Summary

The Franklin County Campus Director provides leadership and administrative oversight for the day-to-day operations of the Franklin County Campus of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Shelbyville. This position advances the institution’s mission of delivering high-quality technical education and workforce development by promoting student achievement, cultivating strong industry partnerships, and engaging the surrounding community. The Director functions as the on-site administrator for the campus and serves as TCAT Shelbyville’s representative to local businesses, civic organizations, and educational institutions. Additional responsibilities include leading recruitment efforts for non-traditional students, managing the campus’ social media presence and press communications, supporting institution-wide marketing strategies, and overseeing the planning and execution of college events. Due to the demands of this role, schedule flexibility beyond standard hours may be necessary.

Job Duties

  • Lead the planning, development, and implementation of campus programs, services, and activities in accordance with TCAT Shelbyville and Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) policies and guidelines.
  • Administer all Franklin County campus operations, including academic programming, student services, enrollment management, facility oversight, and community engagement activities.
  • Direct the recruitment of non-traditional students; manage social media platforms and press release activity; advance institutional marketing efforts; and plan and execute events on behalf of the entire college.
  • Provide supervision, performance evaluation, and professional support to faculty and staff assigned to the Franklin County campus to ensure consistently high standards of technical instruction and workforce training.
  • Cultivate a campus environment that prioritizes student success, academic persistence, and timely program completion.
  • Engage with area businesses, industries, and community organizations to assess workforce demands and contribute to the creation of specialized programs and employer-driven training initiatives.
  • Exercise responsible stewardship of campus financial resources and ensure sound fiscal management practices.
  • Advance dual enrollment partnerships, adult education programming, and other targeted initiatives serving diverse student populations.
  • Maintain campus compliance with applicable accreditation standards, state and federal regulations, and Tennessee Board of Regents policies.
  • Represent the Franklin County Campus at community functions, industry advisory committees, and professional associations. 
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement across instructional programs, student support services, and overall campus administration.
  • Address sensitive or time-critical campus matters with appropriate urgency and discretion with support from the president's office or Human Resources.
  • Consistently represent and promote an accurate and positive image of TCAT Shelbyville to the public and external partners. 
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of all information pertaining to students, employees, and institutional operations encountered during employment.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by the President.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university.
• A minimum of three (3) years of combined experience in teaching, administration, and student recruitment within a post-secondary institution, including responsibilities that involve independent decision-making.
• Demonstrated strengths in leadership, interpersonal skills, and written and verbal communication.
• Strong professional writing background, including experience producing business communications such as press releases, marketing materials, and institutional reports.
• Track record of strong work results, including timely completion of reporting requirements, management of multiple concurrent projects, and effective collaboration with employers and industry partners.
• Proficient in computer systems and applications with a working knowledge of network environments and student information management platforms.
• Ability to build and sustain productive relationships with local businesses, employers, workforce development agencies, secondary schools, and post-secondary institutions.
• Sound judgment and effective decision-making skills in a variety of institutional settings.
• Valid Tennessee driver’s license required.
• Must be willing to travel as needed to fulfill position responsibilities.

  • Reasoning ability required in administrative decision making, advising and assisting students, project coordination, performing complex tasks and applying relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Administration, customer service, public relations, time management, organizational, management, scheduling, and personnel management skills required.
  • Must be self-motivating and able to exercise ethics and maintain confidentiality.
