JOB SUMMARY
The Head Volleyball Coach/Social Media Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the College’s intercollegiate women’s volleyball program and coordinating social media operations for Intercollegiate Athletics. As a member of the Athletics Department, this position works collaboratively with Athletics staff, Student Services personnel, other college departments, high school representatives, and colleagues at other institutions to develop and maintain a high-quality volleyball program while providing an excellent experience for student-athletes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Volleyball Coaching (65%)
- Provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of the intercollegiate Women’s Volleyball program, including recruiting student-athletes, scheduling practices and competitions, coordinating team travel, and managing equipment and program operations.
- Develop, administer, and monitor the program budget while maintaining equipment inventory and ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Instruct and develop student-athletes in volleyball skills, strategies, fundamentals, and competition preparation at the intercollegiate level.
- Advise and support student-athletes in academic planning, course selection, academic progress, retention, completion, and transfer opportunities to four-year institutions.
- Ensure compliance with all institutional, TCCAA (Tennessee Community College Athletic Association), and NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) rules and regulations governing intercollegiate athletics.
- Oversee coaching assistants (if applicable) and participate in fundraising, public relations, promotional activities, and other Athletics Department initiatives as assigned.
Social Media (30%)
- Coordinate and manage the College’s Athletics social media platforms, including promoting game schedules, scores, team updates, and upcoming events.
- Work with coaches and staff to ensure timely submission and posting of content related to athletic programs and events.
- Create and distribute social media communications and promotional content to increase engagement and visibility for Athletics programs.
- Maintain accurate, current, and consistent messaging across all assigned Athletics social media accounts.
Additional Support Duties (5%)
- May be required to achieve additional skills, knowledge, or credential levels.
- Other duties as assigned.
EQUIPMENT
Work activities regularly involve the use of standard office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, scanners, telephones, and related devices to perform tasks including data entry, document preparation, email communication, and report generation. This position also utilizes volleyball training and competition equipment, athletic supplies and uniforms, fitness and conditioning equipment, audio/visual and event technology, social media and athletics-related software, and vehicles used for recruiting and team travel.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Strong administrative, organizational, and time management skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with various software packages including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to recruit student-athletes and promote their success in academics, personal development, and athletics.
- Knowledge of social media platforms and best practices, with the ability to create, coordinate, and manage content that promotes athletic programs, events, and student-athlete achievements.
JOB STANDARDS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in any combination of:
- Coaching volleyball at the high school or collegiate level, including planning and conducting practices, developing player skills, implementing game strategies, and supporting student-athlete development.
- Valid driver’s license.
JOB LOCATION
This on-site position is based in the L. Quentin Lane Gymnasium located on the main campus of Cleveland State Community College in Cleveland, Tennessee. Regular travel is required for athletic events within the College’s five-county service area, as well as travel within the state and throughout the United States for competitions and related program activities.
