Adjunct Faculty Pool - Spanish Memphis
This is a part-time, Adjunct Faculty position in the Spanish Department. THIS POSTING IS NOT A GUARANTEE OF AN OPEN POSITION. Student Help: STARS Tutor Memphis
The Student Help STARS Tutor is a Grant Funded, part-time, temporary position for current Southwest Tennessee Community College Students and will tutor K-3 grade students in reading. Every tutor must relate well to children, possess good oral communication skills, and perform related tasks as assigned. The Southwest STARS (Saluqi Tutors Achieving Reading Success) Program is a reading tutoring program led by Southwest Tennessee Community College in partnership with local educational agencies, specifically Libertas School of Memphis, Promise Academy, and Capstone Education Group. Recent legislative changes will impact potential fourth grade level retention based on a student’s third grade English Language Arts (ELA) TCAP scores. As a result, this grant will provide key early interventions to move students from scoring Below or Approaching grade level to Met or Exceeded. Each student should be tutored for two hours per week for 18 weeks and totaling 36 hours of tutoring instruction. At the end of the tutoring semester, students should be able to score a proficiency in their reading test.
