Research Scientist Fairfax, VA, Hybrid Eligible
The Research Scientist will engage in designing, implementing, and managing research projects focused on regional and urban-scale air quality forecasting, by developing Advanced ML/AI Models for Air Quality Applications. The main goal is to improve prediction accuracy and computational efficiency through fine-resolution data fusion, bias correction, and model surrogate development. The incumbent will also be responsible to disseminate scientific findings through publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals in atmospheric science, environmental engineering, and presentations at national and international scientific conferences, workshops, and stakeholder meetings.

The primary purpose of the position is to lead research on air quality forecasting and various air quality modeling and its practical applications. The Research Scientist will engage in projects on real-time air quality forecasting, by analyzing emission data for a variety of sources to understand their impact on air quality and developing and implementing software for air quality modeling

The Community Director is a 12-month, live-in professional staff member responsible for the educational, social, and cultural growth of the individual student and the overall residential community. The primary responsibilities include initiating, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating efforts in the assigned residential area(s) that result in a student-centered community that supports the academic mission of George Mason University. The Community Director is responsible for the overall administration and management of their assigned residential area(s).
