Mechanical Laboratory Engineer Michigan
Under administrative direction and reporting directly to the Chair of the School of Engineering & Technology; to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electro-mechanical systems in all the engineering labs; assist with mechanical & manufacturing engineering laboratory experiments/activities set-up; to interact extensively with students in machine shop; to support senior capstone projects by supervising and coaching students as well as managing/completing mechanical work and mechanical portions of electro-mechanical projects. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Fabricate, install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment for all engineering labs. 2. Establish and maintain an evaluation, maintenance, and calibration schedule to ensure equipment is functional and safe to operate. 3. Maintain inventory and orderly storage of equipment and supplies. 4. Establish and maintain safety policies and verify equipment is installed and operated in accordance with relevant safety standards. 5. Provide technical advice, guidance, and assistance to students in the senior project capstone. 6. Supervise students working in the machine shop as well as other mechanical, manufacturing, and related labs. 7. Other duties as assigned.
