Technical and Operations Fellowships at the Forbes Center for the Performing Arts at James Madison University provide advanced, hands-on training in theatre production and stage management, as well as opportunities to operate state-of-the-art audio, lighting and video systems.
The Fellowship begins September 1, 2025 and runs through May 10th, 2026. Fellowships require a season-long commitment. The Fellow will receive a stipend total of $17,225 for the 36 week contract, which will be paid in increments bi-weekly. The Fellow will not work more than 40 hours per week, but will average 29 hours per week across the length of the contract. Housing and benefits are not included. |

JMU Libraries seeks an enthusiastic and innovative leader for the new position of Head of Research & Engagement (R&E) in the Digital Scholarship & Distinctive Collections department (DSDC). This position is a full-time, twelve-month, tenure-track position with instructional faculty status at JMU. We anticipate hiring at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The position will join the collaborative DSDC leadership team and report to the DSDC director. DSDC stewards rare books, manuscripts, and archives; supports digital scholarship methods in teaching, learning, and research; and preserves general and distinctive collections at JMU.
The position will lead a team responsible for the department’s research services, collection circulation, instruction, outreach, events, and physical exhibits. R&E responsibilities include managing a public service desk, reading room, and classroom in the renovated and expanded Carrier Library, opening Fall 2026. The Head of R&E will embrace exciting growth potential in DSDC’s services, especially in the R&E portfolio.
In addition to supervising 2 full-time employees and shaping R&E’s services, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage with JMU faculty, staff, students, and the local community. The Head of R&E will share responsibility with colleagues for designing and delivering instruction, developing public events, curating exhibits, providing reference services, and participating in outreach and communications.

Director of Access & User Services - Libraries

JMU Libraries is accepting applications for Director of Access & User Services (AUS). AUS is a newly reorganized department comprised of three experienced teams-- Access & Delivery, Library & Information Services, and the Music Library. We are looking for a leader interested in developing a shared vision for the department, as well as leading and shaping services that meet the evolving needs of our organization and users.
The AUS department is responsible for facilitating access to collections, learning spaces, and connection to additional Libraries services and experts. These services operate across four locations: Rose Library, JMU Libraries Express, the Music Library, the Hub, and an off-campus storage facility. The AUS department staffs our Ask the Library service points (in-person and virtual).
The Director will be instrumental in developing AUS operations in the newly renovated Carrier Library (opening in Fall 2026) and supporting the broader changes in Libraries services across all of our locations.
The position is a full-time, twelve-month, tenure-track position with instructional faculty status. We anticipate hiring at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will report to the Associate Dean for Academic Engagement (AE). The JMU Libraries faculty are governed by the policies and evaluation practices established in our Promotion & Tenure Guidelines and the JMU Faculty Handbook.

About the Department: The Department of Marketing is an academic unit of the College of Business with 19 full-time faculty and over 900 undergraduate majors. The department is home to several marketing student organizations and honor societies. The faculty place a primary emphasis on the undergraduate degree program where students may pursue an optional concentration in professional sales or digital marketing. The curriculum emphasizes experiential learning through client-based and/or practical projects, marketing internships, professional certification preparation, study abroad programs, and career networking events. Additionally, the department values participation in regional and national intercollegiate competitions such as the National Collegiate Sales Competition and the AMA Marketing Chapter Competition. JMU’s Department of Marketing is ranked in the top 10% nationally for Best Marketing Bachelor’s Degree Schools by College Factual. Talent Search is a federally funded program providing opportunities for participants to succeed in their pre-college performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. Talent Search serves middle school and high school students from low-income families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree. Talent Search aims to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from postsecondary education institutions.
The Talent Search Advisor partners with campus and community colleagues to identify and assist first-generation income-eligible 6th through 12th grade students who attend local middle and high schools and want to continue with post-secondary education. The advisor will also work with students who have dropped out of school and have not started post-secondary enrollment. The advisor works directly with the students, assisting them with academic class scheduling, implementing workshops, and providing college application, career searches, and financial aid assistance. The advisor also works with the director in data reporting to the US Department of Education. |

SPCE offers a range of programs, including youth camps, adult degree completion, professional and workforce development, and lifelong learning, as well as partners with academic units across JMU to support a number of online or off-campus degree and certificate programs. SPCE partners with the College of Integrated Science and Engineering to offer a state-wide dual enrollment program called the Geospatial Semester, which trains high school students and their teachers in spatial thinking and geospatial technologies.
