Associate Dean, College of Visual and Performing Arts Harrisonburg
James Madison University (JMU) is seeking an innovative and dynamic leader for the position of Associate Dean within the College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA). This 12-month, tenured appointment, beginning July 1, 2025, at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a vibrant academic and artistic environment. We seek a candidate who is passionate about fostering creative and scholarly excellence through strategic leadership and data-driven decision making. At the CVPA, you’ll join a community dedicated to artistic integrity, scholarly inquiry, and inclusivity. The college is committed to supporting faculty and students as they make meaningful contributions to the arts and design landscape both locally and globally. The CVPA encompasses the Schools of Art, Design and Art History; Music; Theatre and Dance; as well as the Office of Creative Propulsion (OCP) and the Madison Art Collection and Lisanby Museum. OCP fosters interdisciplinary arts at JMU, bridging gaps across disciplines and between the university and community. The office coordinates the Integrative Arts Faculty Cohort, develops cross-disciplinary research and coursework, and supports collaborative projects among students, faculty, and the wider community. With over 200 full-time faculty/staff and 1,300 students, the CVPA is a vibrant, collaborative community dedicated to artistic and academic excellence.
Student Success Coach (Two Positions) Harrisonburg
Student Success Analytics (SSA) at James Madison University is accepting applications for two Student Success Coaches. These positions report to the Director and support the strategic vision of a new Student Success Analytics team, leveraging data and technology to proactively reach out to and support students across all colleges. These positions represent a strategic partnership between Academic Affairs and Student Affairs to pursue a holistic approach to student success at JMU. These newly created positions will provide transformational experiences to students, especially those identified through Early Student Success initiatives, working with the Dean of Students Office, and JMU advising community. Student success academic support at JMU promotes a relationship-rich experience, positive well-being, self-efficacy, and progress toward students’ individual goals. Understanding the complexity of each student and their pathway, coaches may serve as a motivator to help inspire students to reach their potential; a guide to help develop goals and planning documents; or an advocate to students navigate people, resources, and offices for additional support. The persons in these positions will join at an exciting time as efforts are underway to scale up existing, develop new, and institutionalize student success and retention efforts across the university. Competitive applicants will be able to demonstrate how they have been successful in fast-paced, evolving, and dynamic university environments, using innovation and serving as a change-agent to support more sophisticated approaches to student success.

Research Development Manager Harrisonburg
The Research Development Manager (RDM) provides support to the College of Education, the African, African American, and Diaspora Studies Center (AAAD), and the JMU Center for Advancement Research in Education (JMU CARE TM). The RDM will report to the Division of Research, Economic Development, and Innovation’s Director of the Office of Research Development, but with a dotted line to the College of Education’s Associate Dean of Research, the Director of AAAD, and the Director of JMU CARE (TM). 50% of the RDM’s time will be used to assist the College of Education, with the remaining time split evenly between AAAD and JMU CARE (TM). The RDM will work with the staff in the Offices of Research Development, Sponsored Programs, and Corporate and Foundation Relations to manage the development of a growing portfolio of external funding proposals for the College for new and continuing large-scale research and programmatic projects. The RDM works directly with faculty and staff to catalyze and manage the proposal development process to help produce highly competitive proposals for research and programmatic funding.
Senior Anchor/Managing Editor - IE Harrisonburg
The Breeze is hiring a Senior Anchor/Managing Editor for its weekly news show, Breeze TV. Students selected will lead the weekly newscast and have a leadership role on the staff as managing editors of the show. As anchors, students will be part of a two-person teach that hosts the show. As managing editors, students will work with the News Director in editing news and mentoring reporters.
