Assistant Professor of Finance Harrisonburg
The Department of Finance and Business Law in the College of Business at James Madison University (JMU) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Finance position to begin Fall 2025. About the Department: The Finance and Business Law Department is staffed by 17 full-time faculty with 14 faculty in finance and 3 faculty in Business Law. The department serves both Finance and Quantitative Finance majors and college business law courses. FIN & BLAW faculty have received numerous awards and recognitions for outstanding teaching, service, and research. JMU subscribes to both the Standard & Poor’s Compustat, the University of Chicago’s Center for Research in Securities Prices (CRSP), MSCI ESG KLD and NYSE TAQ databases through WRDS, and students and faculty have access to Bloomberg through the Gaglioti Capital Markets Laboratory. Interdisciplinary and applied research is encouraged. About the College: The AACSB-accredited College of Business includes nationally ranked undergraduate and graduate programs. The College includes the Center for Entrepreneurship, Center for Professional Selling, Small Business Development Center, Capital Markets Lab, Madison Consulting, and other programs focused on outreach and engagement with the business community. Our very successful alumni hold C-suite positions at major corporations including SAP, Fidelity, Bank of America, IBM, California Pizza Kitchen, McKinsey & Company, Deloitte, KPMG, and other Fortune 500 companies and readily engage with the College. The Senior Philanthropic Advisor will play a critical role in building transformative relationships and securing principal-level gifts from a growing donor pool. The Principal Giving team collectively has a critical impact on JMU’s next ambitious campaign which will significantly advance JMU’s strategic priorities and the success of our students, faculty and campus environment. The successful candidate will have a passion for facilitating impactful philanthropy with individuals and families and will have the knowledge and tools to open and close conversations involving gifts of $1M+. Having recently moved to the Sun Belt Conference and into a higher research classification by the Carnegie Commission, JMU went from regional to national rankings. Applications to JMU are up 70 percent in the last three years. JMU’s successful Unleashed campaign exceeded the stretch goal by 25 percent, finishing at over $250M. We are now planning and staffing for a next, more ambitious campaign. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in JMU’s rise. The Senior Philanthropic Advisor reports to the Assistant Vice President for Principal Giving in University Advancement. The Senior Philanthropic Advisor is a senior member of the Principal Giving team and also serves as an experienced, creative and strategic thought partner with colleagues across University Advancement, with an eye towards sharing and developing best practices with fellow Director-level colleagues and moving gifts and/or prospective donors through a successful donor development cycle.

Accessible Media Graduate Student Employee - IE Harrisonburg
James Madison University's Office of Disability Services (ODS) is seeking a graduate student to assist in providing accommodations to students registered with ODS with a focus on captioning. The graduate student employee will work cooperatively with the Accessible Media program in ODS. The Accessible Media program creates accessible course materials for students registered with ODS, including audio files, accessible Word documents, tactile and described graphics, captioned videos, described videos, and braille materials. The graduate student employee will receive training and on-going coaching from the Accessible Media staff, as well as training from other ODS programs as needed. Please note, this position is paid an hourly rate and does NOT include a tuition waiver. Exact hours TBD, estimate at this time of 15-20 hours per week.

Topics may include fundamentals, medical-surgical, women’s health, psychiatric mental health, pediatrics, and community nursing. Available sections to teach during fall and spring semesters will vary based on enrollment needs, and instructor pay will be based on enrollment numbers. The academic semester begins two weeks prior to the first day of classes each semester.
