The Social Media & Content Student Assistant supports First-Generation Programs by creating and sharing content that promotes events, celebrates first-gen stories, and increases awareness of departmental initiatives. This role is responsible for managing digital platforms, designing promotional materials, maintaining the departmental website, and supporting outreach efforts. Ideal candidates will be creative, detail-oriented, and excited about amplifying the voices of first-generation students at JMU. Multiple positions are available. Occasional weekend hours may be required to support university events. |

| The Center for Assessment and Research Studies (CARS) and the Department of Graduate Psychology at James Madison University (JMU) invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant/Associate Assessment Specialist and Assistant/Associate Professor position in Assessment & Measurement. This position is a year-round (12-month) appointment. The role will contribute to campus assessment activities and to the Assessment and Measurement PhD program, which is dedicated to preparing professionals in assessment and measurement.
CARS integrates assessment, educational research, and graduate student training. CARS faculty work with interdisciplinary teams of JMU faculty and staff on a variety of projects related to the assessment and improvement of learning and developmental outcomes of university students. CARS faculty consult with campus programs on all phases of the assessment cycle, including the development of assessments and assessment plans, assist with the analysis of data and reporting of results, and provide guidance in the use of results for learning improvement. JMU is committed to student outcomes assessment and provides a unique, supportive setting for the development of innovative assessment practices. JMU has received an unprecedented twelve national awards for student learning outcomes assessment practice.
The Assessment & Measurement PhD program integrates strong training in measurement theory and quantitative methods, applied assessment skills and experiences, and the knowledge and skills necessary to influence assessment practice and policies. The doctoral program is housed with other nationally recognized graduate programs in the Department of Graduate Psychology. CARS faculty members teach courses in assessment, measurement, or statistics, mentor graduate students, and conduct scholarly research. The faculty has established an outstanding record of research productivity. |

| Do you love punctuation, spelling and grammar? Enjoy catching mistakes and making sure they get fixed? The Office of Annual Giving (OAG) is seeking an eagle-eyed typo tamer to join our team. As a Student Proofreader, you'll primarily review our mass communication with alumni, families, students and donors — email and text messages, print pieces and advertising — to ensure it’s spotless. This position will be part of a team of student employees who engage with the JMU community and support university initiatives by talking with people on the phone, handwriting thank-you notes, texting congratulations, etc.
The Student Proofreader must be detail-focused, able to manage multiple projects at once on a deadline, and team-oriented. They must be passionate about JMU and eager to make a positive impact.
Student Proofreader is expected to work 2-3 shifts per week, 9 hours total. Work will be at the Leeolou Alumni Center. The position starts as soon as possible, with the possibility of working through the calendar year. |

Tenure-Track Faculty Position - Applied Biotechnology

| We invite applications for a tenure-track or renewable term appointment position in Applied Biotechnology, at the Assistant Professor rank, to begin August 2026. Exceptional candidates may also be considered for the rank of Associate Professor.
The successful candidate will primarily support the Integrated Science and Technology (ISAT) Applied Biotechnology concentration and work cooperatively across the School of Integrated Sciences (SIS). Other undergraduate programs in the school include Geography and Intelligence Analysis.
The ISAT Program is an ABET-accredited, multidisciplinary, applied science program with roughly 300 undergraduate students and an international Master’s Program focused on environmental management and sustainability. ISAT also contributes to the cross-college JMU B.S. in Biotechnology Program, in partnership with the Departments of Biology and Chemistry & Biochemistry.
ISAT graduates are versatile problem-solvers who apply the principles of STEM and systems thinking to design and actualize socially responsible solutions to complex issues. Students declare concentrations in one of six areas: Applied Biotechnology, Applied Computing, Energy, Environment & Sustainability, Industrial & Manufacturing Systems, or Public Interest Technology & Science. Faculty share a commitment to true integration and leveraging their unique strengths for impactful and socially engaged STEM education and scholarship.
