Lecturer, Department of Finance and Business Law Harrisonburg
The Department of Finance and Business Law in the College of Business at James Madison University invites applications for a renewable term appointment at the rank of Lecturer beginning in the Fall of 2026. Lecturer appointments are non-tenure track but promotable. This is a full-time benefits-eligible position. About the Department: The Finance and Business Law Department is staffed by 17 full-time faculty with 14 faculty in finance and 3 faculty in Business Law. The department serves both Finance and Quantitative Finance majors and college business law courses. FIN & BLAW faculty have received numerous awards and recognition for outstanding teaching, service, and research. JMU subscribes to both the Standard & Poor’s Compustat, the University of Chicago’s Center for Research in Securities Prices (CRSP), MSCI ESG KLD and NYSE TAQ databases through WRDS, and students and faculty have access to Bloomberg through the Gaglioti Capital Markets Laboratory. About the College: The AACSB-accredited College of Business includes nationally ranked undergraduate and graduate programs. The college includes the Center for Entrepreneurship, Center for Professional Selling, Capital Markets Lab, and Madison Consulting. Our very successful alumni hold C-suite positions at major corporations. The college has approximately 5,300 students in its AACSB programs and is highly regarded across the JMU campus community.
Academic Unit Head, Sociology & Anthropology Harrisonburg
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at James Madison University invites applications for the position of Academic Unit Head (AUH) to begin July 1st, 2026. The position is a 12-month tenured faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor with a teaching load of 1-1. The department has 23 full-time faculty members engaged in diverse research programs across numerous subfields within Sociology and Anthropology, respectively. Faculty are also highly engaged in professional service at the university, local, national, and international levels. Our faculty provide excellent and creative educational experiences for majors, minors, and students in other programs across campus, in large and small classroom settings, including courses that provide “hands-on” training in research methods, theory, and analysis. The department also plays a significant role in teaching numerous courses for the General Education program. The department maintains multiple research spaces, labs, and other pedagogical venues that provide space for, support to, and training in qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research methodologies. The department is part of JMU’s College of Arts and Letters, which enrolls more than 3,100 undergraduate majors and about 150 graduate students across ten academic units. Home to several interdisciplinary centers and institutes, the college embraces the teacher-scholar model and encourage excellent applicants within our particular disciplines, as well as scholars and teachers eager to work across them.

The Department of Health Sciences in the College of Health and Behavioral Studies at James Madison University offers an engaging and dynamic Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences curriculum. The Health Sciences major is a popular major at JMU with approximately 1500 total students declared and is designed for students interested in understanding the causes of disease, strategies for promoting health, wellness, and behavior change, and the scientific basis and methodologies for analyzing health for both individuals and populations.
