RTA Lecturer - Writing, Rhetoric & Technical Communication Harrisonburg
The School of Writing, Rhetoric & Technical Communication (www.jmu.edu/wrtc), an independent department established at James Madison University in 2008, invites applications for a lecturer in our First-Year Writing program. The position is a full-time, Renewable Term Appointment (RTA), 10-month instructional faculty position, beginning August 2025. Salary commensurate with experience and includes generous benefits and support for professional development. We are a community of exceptional faculty, dedicated staff, talented students and energetic alumni in one of the only stand-alone schools dedicated to the art and science of communication across a variety of modes and genres. WRTC is made up of over 20 full-time and 16 part-time faculty members, and more than 200 majors, minors, and graduate students. The College of Arts and Letters in which WRTC is housed, enrolls over 3100 undergraduate majors and about 150 graduate students across ten academic units in the humanities, social sciences, and communication studies. Home to several interdisciplinary centers and institutes, the College employs 270 full-time faculty. We embrace the teacher-scholar model, and encourage excellent applicants within our particular disciplines, as well as scholars and teachers eager to work across them. Lecturer, Department of Economics (Multiple Positions) Harrisonburg
The Department of Economics at James Madison University invites applications for multiple positions of Lecturer beginning Fall 2025. These are nontenure-track, full-time, benefits-eligible, renewable academic year positions. Teaching load is 4/4. The University Health Center provides a comprehensive array of health care services and health education programs to JMU students. Included in our health care services are several medical clinics, a pharmacy, a medical laboratory, and other programs that provide services for more than 30,000 patient encounters a year. Graduate Assistant - Office of Admissions Harrisonburg
The Office of Admissions seeks a Graduate Assistant for the Spring 2025 semester to provide interactive support to the Office of Admission and the admissions process; assist with the execution of the duties and responsibilities of the Office of Admission, assist with the execution of various on-campus events, as well as contributing to other departmental projects under the direction and supervision of the Office of Admission staff. The assistantship dates are from January 21, 2025 to May 9, 2025. These Graduate Assistantships provide 9 hours of tuition support for the semester and the stipend of $4,908 for the semester.
Assistant Professor in Computing Applied to Energy or Manufacturing (Two Positions) Harrisonburg
The Integrated Science and Technology (ISAT) program within the School of Integrated Sciences (SIS) at James Madison University invites applications for two tenure-track or renewable term appointments (RTA) positions, at the Assistant Professor rank, to begin August 2025. SIS is home to undergraduate majors in ISAT, Geography, and Intelligence Analysis; a Cyber Intelligence certificate program; and an international Master of Science in ISAT program with a concentration in Environmental Management and Sustainability. ISAT also supports multiple environmental minors and a Global Supply Chain Minor in partnership with the College of Business. This search aims to expand applied computing and AI technologies across the School of Integrated Sciences and is part of a broader SIS-wide hiring initiative with the theme “Technology for Resilient Futures.” We seek colleagues with expertise in programming in Python, relational databases and SQL, machine learning and data science, and data visualization as they apply to sociotechnical systems in energy and manufacturing. The ISAT Program is an ABET-accredited, multidisciplinary, applied science program with roughly 300 undergraduate majors. ISAT prepares graduates with modern problem-solving skills through the strategic integration of technology, natural and social sciences, humanities, and systems thinking. Students in the ISAT program declare a concentration in one of six areas: Applied Biotechnology, Applied Computing, Energy, Environment & Sustainability, Industrial & Manufacturing Systems, or Public Interest Technology & Science.
