Job Overview:

Ensures safety of all people and horses on a race day and during training by enforcing track regulations and reporting any violations to their supervisor. Responsible for the conduct of all individuals on horseback during both racing and training.

Essential Functions:

Responsibilities:
- Patrols the racetrack during training and racing hours to look for debris and foreign objects
- Opens and closes the racetrack to horse training at designated hours
- Catches horses that get free during workouts
- Contacts appropriate personnel when injuries occur
- Enforces training and equipment regulations on the track
- Leads horses in the post parade on to the racetrack
- Ensure that mounts are properly maintained
- Assist horses who are having a difficult time training properly
- Monitors skill sets of exercise riders
- Reports to Stewards infractions by exercise riders breaking/not adhering to rules
- Enforcing training and equipment regulations
- Identifies and escalates safety, integrity, regulatory compliance
- Acts as a liaison between stakeholders and management

Qualifications:

5+ years racetrack experience including strong riding capability

Summary of Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

Primarily outside, at Racecourse in all weather conditions

Pay Range / Salary: 22.55
