As Associate Professor in Urgent Care, you will provide academic leadership across the Graduate Certificate in Urgent Care and emerging microcredential offerings. Reporting to the Discipline Lead, Paramedicine, you will lead curriculum innovation, ensuring programs reflect contemporary clinical practice, regulatory standards, and the future direction of healthcare delivery. This is an opportunity to influence how urgent care is taught, practiced, and researched. You will shape learning experiences that are practical, evidence-driven, and outcomes-focused, while also contributing to a strong research culture and mentoring the next generation of academic talent.

You will:

  • lead the design, delivery and continuous improvement of postgraduate urgent care programs, ensuring contemporary, practice-ready learning;
  • drive a visible research agenda, securing funding and delivering outcomes that influence urgent care practice and policy;
  • mentor and develop academic staff, strengthening teaching excellence and research capability across the discipline; and
  • build strategic partnerships and contribute to academic governance, enhancing program quality, relevance and impact within the School

About you:

You are an established academic leader with national standing in your discipline and a passion for shaping the future of urgent care education. You combine scholarly rigour with practical insight, and you thrive in environments where you can influence, mentor, and build. You bring a collaborative mindset, strong industry engagement, and a clear vision for how education and research can improve healthcare delivery and outcomes.

You will possess:

  • Demonstrated leadership in learning and teaching, including curriculum innovation and student success outcomes
  • Experience mentoring academic staff and building research and teaching capability
  • Evidence of meaningful contribution to your discipline at a national level
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strategic partnerships across healthcare, industry, and community sectors
  • Extensive experience in academic governance and university-level administration
  • A commitment to inclusive, culturally safe, and student-centred education
  • Postgraduate qualifications in higher education and formal recognition for excellence in research and/or teaching (desirable)
