Analytics Senior Analyst

• Design and deliver analytics services to solve problems and provide insight to support and uplift internal audit activities

The Role

The role is part of the Data Analytics specialist team within the Internal Audit function. The Analytics Senior Analyst will be responsible for the delivery of analytics to solve problems and provide insight and support to internal audit activities. This includes to provide evidence-based validation over the effectiveness of risk management processes and practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the DA scope of work for individual projects
• Execute the DA scope (end-to-end) in line with the Internal Audit Data Analytics Methodology
• Provide regular status updates to the Data Analytics Portfolio Manager and the relevant Audit Portfolio Manager
• Lead discussions with relevant internal audit and business stakeholders to explain the output of work and data analysis
• Translate complex technical concepts into simple communications to articulate key data observations using clear and concise verbal and written communication
• Collaborate across the broader internal audit community and provide guidance to team members to uplift data analysis capability by:
  • Providing informal on-the-job training to share skills and expertise
  • Sharing knowledge and showcasing completed work

Skills & Experience

• 3-5 years’ experience working with the analysis of data from complex / disparate data sets and systems
• Technical hands on experience with SQL based tools (e.g. SQL Server or Netezza). Other programming skills such as Python are desired but not essential
• Extensive experience across the analytics process: defining the problem, designing a solution, preparing / validating data, building and testing the solution, presenting findings / insights
• Strong problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills
• Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau or PowerBi)
• An understanding of database structures for core financial and operational systems is desired but not essential
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including being able to collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders to request information, articulate findings and to translate business needs into technical requirements
• Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of risk management or internal audit are desired but not essential
• A solid understanding of IT Audit and related frameworks will be looked on favourably
