We’re seeking a Senior Claims Specialist for a 12-month contract to manage a portfolio of high-value and complex Specialty claims, including professional indemnity, injury, and property liability. You’ll provide strategic advice, manage litigation, and collaborate with internal legal teams and external counsel. This role is pivotal in ensuring claims are resolved efficiently and fairly, while supporting the technical development of the broader team.
What You’ll Do
- Manage end-to-end claims across class actions, cluster claims, and high-value exposures
- Provide strategic advice on policy interpretation, litigation, and claim resolution
- Collaborate with internal legal teams, panel firms, and counsel to manage legal complexities
- Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and court proceedings as required
- Support technical oversight and mentoring within the Specialty claims team
- Develop governance frameworks and reporting for emerging risks and financial impacts
- Promote alignment of claims strategies across internal stakeholders
- Contribute to process improvements and cost reduction initiatives
- Operate within delegated authority and promote a positive risk culture
What You’ll Bring
- Tertiary qualifications in law, business, or insurance (mandatory)
- Industry qualifications such as Diploma in Financial Services (mandatory)
- 5–10 years’ experience managing complex liability or professional indemnity claims
- Litigation experience, including briefing panel firms or direct involvement (mandatory)
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities
- Experience mentoring and developing team members
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and claims systems
