The Role

As the National Safety & Risk Manager, you will play a key role in driving continuous improvement in safety, environment and organisational compliance across all of our functions.

Reporting to the Vice President Legal (General Counsel), you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for safety and risk across Australia, ensuring compliance with internal processes and leading the development of policy and procedure.

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Implementation and ongoing management of the BU Safety & Environment Committee and Risk Register.
  • Provision of Crisis Management Support to the VP Legal and VP Corporate Affairs (with ownership of crisis management and CMT led by VP Corporate Affairs)
  • Overall management of Safety and workers compensation for CUB Corporate functions with the provision of support to safety owner(s) within Commercial.
  • Provide Support and strategic guidance to the EHS Managers to ensure overall compliance with safety and environmental legal framework.
  • Management of Common Law workers compensation claims (with site based safety managers)
  • Participation in site wide safety audits, inspections and investigations across Corporate and Supply sites.
  • Overall management of safety related internal approvals (e.g. via Capex Committee)
  • Ensuring that CUB LT due diligence obligations discharged, working closely with EHS Managers 
  • Review, oversight and support of safety systems implemented by the EHS Managers

Who you are

You are a motivated and driven safety expert with a comprehensive understanding of Australian OH&S legislation. Comfortable with ambiguity, you bring a strong passion for safety and can demonstrate success in driving positive change through the implementation and management of HSE policy.

A natural leader, your proven influencing skills and ability to confidently build relationships will allow you to succeed when driving results with a remote team.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Safety or Environment compliance
  • Membership of S&E professional body
  • Senior First Aid Certification
  • Experience in HSE across both manufacturing and corporate environments
  • Exposure to workers compensation practices highly regarded
