The Role
The key duties of the role are to:
- Manage the referrals and process of transitioning patients from the RHH to the HPH public maintenance beds.
- Promote the HPH public maintenance beds across the hospital particularly the referral of suitable patients to maintain high occupancy rates of the 10 beds.
- Assess patient referrals against the admission criteria and forward referrals to the HPH medical team.
- Manage issues as they arise including communication about patients required to return to RHH.
- Record and analyse data relating to the HPH public maintenance beds including number of referrals, accepted vs declined referrals, discharges and patient returns to RHH. Generate reports, upkeep of the issues log, share information between key stakeholders at the HPH and RHH.
- Attend and engage in regular meetings between sites.
- Provide support to the Gen Med CNC's and ED admitting team by transferring patients from ED to the allocated wards promptly.
Key Skills
Effective communication, stakeholder engagement and excellent interpersonal skills are a must.
Experience in a similar role would be desirable.

The Team
- The Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania's largest hospital, a clinical teaching and research facility and the major referral centre employing around 3000 people.
- Medical and Cancer Services provide contemporary inpatient and outpatient health care services including Cancer Services, General Medicine, Subspecialty Medicine (Gastroenterology, Renal, Rheumatology, Neurology, Endocrinology), Respiratory, Ambulatory Care Services and Cardiology.
- The CNC provides patient safety, quality improvement support and leadership to improve inpatient care across MaCS and the HPH.

Details of Appointment
Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of approximately six (6) months.

Classification Registered Nurse, Grade 6
Salary $111,506 - $118,336 per annum + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Services) Agreement 2023

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

- Holds or is working towards a relevant post-graduate tertiary qualification.
Under particular circumstances employees may be required to undertake a new conviction check.
