The Role

Melbourne Water are recruiting for two Waterways and Land Officers. (One full time role, and one 12 month fixed term contract.) As the Waterways and Land Officer you’ll be responsible for the safe and efficient initiation and delivery of Waterways and Land (W&L) services and programs within a discrete geographic area. Programs include Capital works, Maintenance and incentives programs that deliver improved waterway health, drainage and livability outcomes for the community.

You will provide program-level customer relationship and service delivery interface with external and internal customers (across relevant segments e.g. community groups, local councils, Parks Victoria) within a discrete geographic area and facilitate the resolution of customer issues that aren’t able to be resolved rapidly.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Experience in waterway, drainage and land management, natural resource management, waterway planning and rehabilitation practices, and with statutory planning processes
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and the community in complex environments
  • Demonstrated project and contract management skills and the ability to supervise consultants
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment with motivation and drive to contribute to broader team outcomes along with developing and progressing own program of works

Your ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders is required together with a qualification in environmental management, environmental science, science, or environmental or civil engineering.
