The Opportunity

Thiess are seeking an experienced Senior Project Accountant to join our Pembroke Resource’s project in the Bowen Basin - the Olive Downs Complex.

Pembroke Resource’s Olive Downs Complex is a greenfield project located 40 kilometres south-east of Moranbah which commenced mining operations mid-2023. Thiess has been awarded a five-year contract to deliver full service mining operations, including mine planning overburden removal, drill and blast, load and haul (Autonomous), water management and rehabilitation as well as construction of the mine infrastructure.

About The Role

Are you ready to make a significant impact? In this dynamic role, you’ll report to the Finance & Administration Manager and provide essential support to our project, ensuring financial accountability and driving performance targets.

Working a 5/2/4/3 roster your duties will include:

  • Ensuring timely completion of end-of-month deliverables and reports
  • Lead engaging monthly cost reviews and dive into key budget variances
  • Playing a vital role in cost estimations for our annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes
  • Promoting financial awareness across the site and ensuring compliance with company policies
  • Proactively identifying financial risks before they arise
  • Effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders and key personnel

About you

  • CPA or CA qualified (or currently in progress)
  • Relevant post-qualification experience, preferably in mining or heavy industry
  • Previous experience with JDE is a plus, but not essential
  • Proficiency in MS Office, with a strong emphasis on Excel
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Commitment to promoting safety, culture, and productivity within a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and influence effectively across the site
