About the Graduate Program
The Thiess 2026 Graduate Program provides the opportunity to learn, develop and gain exposure to our business and the industry, working alongside senior professionals who will guide your learning and development journey.
As a Thiess Graduate, you will have access to structured, on-the-job training, guided learning plans, a mentor and additional professional development opportunities. Over our two-year program, you will experience up to two 12-month rotations with placements in various roles across Australia in Coal and Minerals Mining projects. Having the opportunity to rotate across different teams as well as projects will provide you with greater opportunities to build your career.
As a Thiess Graduate, you will have:
- A motivated mindset to learn new skills, be flexible and adaptive in situations while communicating effectively
- The ability to problem solve and analyse, with a proactive outlook to innovate and propose creative solutions
- The capacity for self-directed task management in a fast-paced environment and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team.
- A commitment to Thiess’ shared group principles of Integrity, Accountability, Innovation and Delivery
- Be willing to relocate to various sites and projects, as required by program rotations
About the Opportunities
As a Graduate, you'll be an integral part of our team. Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll be involved in a wide range of mining operation activities. Our Program offers an exceptional blend of hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to the entire mining lifecycle.
We are looking for students who are eager to start their career in the mining industry, which may include roles in the following disciplines:
- Engineering – mining, mechanical, mechatronics, and geotechnical
- Geology
- Surveying
We offer opportunities across our QLD and NSW projects, however; this is an indication only and positions and locations are subject to change.
About You
Our ideal applicant will:
- Hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree or related discipline upon commencement
- Have demonstrated a Grade Point Average of 4.5 or higher (QLD) or equivalent Weighted Average Mark (NSW)
- Hold a driver’s licence and an ability to travel to site
- Eligible for full working rights in Australia upon commencement
- Be free from a bond or commitment to any other employer
- Be willing to relocate to your placement location for the duration of the Program
- Be available to commence in our 2026 intake period
