The opportunity
Join one of Thiess’ flagship projects at Lake Vermont, located just outside Dysart in Central Queensland. We’re on the lookout for a driven Tyre Supervisor. In this crucial role, you will oversee the maintenance of mobile plant equipment in compliance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications and Thiess standards. You will work closely with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure that safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness define all operations.

As a Tyre Supervisor, you'll be responsible for ensuring all tyre and equipment maintenance aligns with the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance — driving efficiency across our mobile plant operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing safety and environmental plans, ensuring compliance with legislation while striving for superior outcomes.
- Monitor and improve quality control across tyre maintenance and ancillary equipment servicing tasks.
- Manage tyre inventory and budgets, utilizing approved suppliers and ensuring cost-efficiency.
- Lead and develop a team culture aligned with Thiess values by setting expectations, mentoring team members, and reinforcing positive behaviour.
- Proactively identify hazards, conduct inspections, and participate in incident investigations to ensure workplace safety.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to enhance coordination and ensure optimal integration between maintenance and mining departments.
- Build and nurture healthy client relationships to unlock potential business opportunities.
- Collaborate on maintenance planning and implement strategies for achieving performance targets.
- Update and manage accurate documentation related to maintenance tasks, including costs and equipment conditions, ensuring compliance with company policy.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Current and valid Drivers Licence
- A Mechanical Trade Certificate or tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Significant experience in removing, inspecting, and fitting earthmoving and off-the-road tyres in a mining environment.
- Strong competency in financial management and scheduling tools.
- Knowledge of the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999 and relevant industry standards.
- Coal Mining Industry competencies, such as RIIRIS301A, RIICOM301B, RIIOHS301A, RIIRIS402A.
- Skills or certifications such as AURKTJ011, AURKTJ012, or Tyre Application Training.
- Proven experience leading and supervising a site-based maintenance team, with exposure to planning and condition monitoring.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to foster collaboration across teams.
