About the role
We are inviting expressions of interest for a Maintenance Manager to join our team supporting operations across the Bowen Basin. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a key leadership role with Thiess, where you will oversee maintenance teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and OEM partners—driving safe, efficient, and high‑quality maintenance outcomes across our projects.
Our Bowen Basin operations deliver a broad range of mining services, and as Maintenance Manager, you will play a critical role in supporting operational performance and ensuring the reliability and availability of our fleet and supporting infrastructure.
Reporting to the Project Manager and working as part of the Senior Leadership Team on a 5/2/4/3 roster, your responsibilities may include
- Leading and mentoring key maintenance personnel onsite
- Providing technical expertise and guidance to the site maintenance teams
- Championing safety to foster a proactive approach
- Engaging employees effectively to meet departmental goals
- Ensuring sustainable budgeting and cost control measures
- Leading innovation and improvements in systems and equipment.
About you
To excel in this role, you'll need to be a team-focused achiever, dedicated to fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Your background in open-cut coal mining and a proven track record of delivering results will be crucial.
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or relevant Trade qualification
- Extensive leadership experience in mobile plant maintenance
- Proficiency in S1, S2, S3, and G2 competencies
- Familiarity with JDE Maintenance Management application (desirable)
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities
- Dedication to Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
