The Opportunity
Thiess are seeking experienced Light Vehicle Mechanics for a permanent employment opportunity working at our Olive Downs Complex coal mining project. Reporting into the Maintenance Supervisor, you will work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results.
Pembroke Resources’ Olive Downs Complex is an exciting greenfield project located 80 km south-east of Moranbah, where mining operations started mid-2023. Thiess proudly delivers full-service mining operations, including mine planning, overburden removal, drill and blast, autonomous load and haul, water management, rehabilitation, and the construction of mine infrastructure.
Camp is located at Civeo Coppabella, with bus transport provided daily from camp to site. A bus service is also available for locals, making it easy to join our team and be part of this world-class operation.
About The Role

As a LV Mechanic, you will be required to maintain plant safely and efficiently in order to meet site maintenance schedules.
Roster: 7:7 | Location: Olive Downs Complex | Employment Type: Day Shift | Fulltime
As the Light Vehicle Mechanic, you will:
- Carry out servicing, repairs, and maintenance of the mobile fleet and associated equipment in line with Thiess maintenance, lubrication, and servicing systems.
- Complete general maintenance tasks, breakdown repairs, scheduled services, and component change-outs to a high standard.
- Source and interpret technical information using OEM manuals, technical bulletins, reference documentation, and computer-based systems.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping in all work areas at all times.
- Provide technical advice and support to maintenance team members and operations personnel as required.
- Conduct technical inspections and prepare job estimations to support planned and reactive maintenance activities.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you are required to have:
- Automotive Trade (Light Vehicle Mechanical) or relevant equivalent
- Current open Driver’s Licence
- Experience in vehicle air conditioning systems (desirable)
- Experience in general maintenance, breakdowns, component change-outs, and servicing of light vehicles
- Demonstrated high regard for and commitment to health and safety practices
- Strong work ethic and commitment to continuous improvement, with the ability to work autonomously within a maintenance team and take initiative
