Located just outside Muswellbrook, Thiess’s Mount Pleasant Operation, provides an exciting opportunity to be a part of a Greenfields project and help shape it into a World Class Operation. 

About the role

As the Training Advisor at Mount Pleasant, you will be responsible for managing training and development activities for the Mount Pleasant project to required standards and within allocated budgets.   

In this role, you will:

  • Comply with all applicable health, safety and environmental laws, regulations and statutory obligations at all times. 
  • Work with Management team to ensure training targets are achieved project wide 
  • Manage the site training budget and seek value for money from external training providers.
  • Effectively communicate with the workforce in order to understand their training needs 
  • Work closely with HS&T Administrator to ensure accurate training records are maintained.
  • Update & Manage all company training systems & documentation to Thiess standards
  • Work with supervisors to identify production issues that can be rectified through training 
  • Build a strong relationship with the Thiess Training team, attend meetings with the training team and follow company training direction,
  • Coordinate site First Response annual training schedule & monthly training days – including budget & attendance requirements 
  • Promote Thiess Mount Pleasant as an employer of choice in the area 
  • Preparation & presentation of toolbox talks when required 

About you

  • Cert IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (TAE) 
  • Proficient in administering electronic training systems (advance)
  • Superior scheduling, planning and recordkeeping skills 
  • Working knowledge of relevant NSW legislation 
  • Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organisation  
  • Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume environment
  • Previous experience in a similar role in a mining environment  
  • Ability to coordinate a large volume of trainees & new starters
  • Excellent interpersonal skills & the ability to manage conflicting priorities
