The Project
UGL and CPB Contractors have been awarded the early works contract to support Powerlink’s delivery of CopperString 2032. This $5 billion iconic project will initially be approximately 840 kilometres of new transmission line running from just south of Townsville to Mount Isa that will connect Queensland’s North-West Minerals Province to the national electricity grid.
The project scope includes:
• 500 kilovolt (kV) transmission line from just south of Townsville to Hughenden
• 330kV transmission line from Hughenden to Cloncurry
• 220kV transmission line from Cloncurry to Mount Isa
• Up to six new substation sites
The Opportunity
This exciting project has now commenced construction, and we are looking for an experienced Senior HR Business Partner to join the team. Reporting to the People & Culture Manager, this role will be based out of the Brisbane project office located in Bowen Hills.
As the Senior HR Business Partner, you will lead a small team to provide generalist HR support to the project, which encompasses the BNE project office, and multiple site operations across North and North West QLD.
What will a day in this role look like:
- Be the first point of contact to our BNE based leaders and employees to promote a consultative partnership in supporting and implementing HR strategies.
- Provide professional and strategic best practice HR advice to the project on all areas of HR management, conflict resolution and employee relations.
- Lead a small team of HR professionals to provide HR services in support of both BNE based project office and site-based operations.
- Oversee HR reporting requirements, including weekly and monthly reporting on all HR activities.
- Oversee all HR administration including, onboarding and offboarding activities, HRIS administration, updating of org charts.
- Manage workforce planning requirements, liaising with the centralised recruitment team to ensure timely recruitment activities.
- Manage all HR cyclical activities such as the probation, Performance and development, talent and succession planning, remuneration review.
- Develop, manage, and implement project-based initiatives that promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture in line with the organisation’s vision, mission, and values that attract, retain, and grow our talented team.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of project policies and procedures based on relevant legislation and contemporary HR management practices.
- Attend project site locations to provide support to the Site-based HR teams, such as conducting investigations and covering periods of leave.
What are we looking for you to bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, related discipline, or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a senior advisory or business partnering role.
- Experience within the construction, mining or energy industry will be highly regarded.
- Strong relationship management and communication skills, including the ability to influence key stakeholders at levels.
- Demonstrated experience with effective application and interpretation of enterprise agreements, awards, employment contracts and other relevant employment legislation.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills to effectively resolve issues in the workplace.
- Advanced time management, planning and organisational skills to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel to project site locations where required.
