The Project:

The purpose of the TasWater Capital Delivery Office (CDO) is to build the capability and capacity of TasWater to fulfil its customer promises for improved service levels by efficiently and effectively delivering an accelerated capital program of works. 
The TasWater CDO will deliver:

  • Opportunities for people to grow and develop
  • Economic benefits and growth opportunities for local industry
  • Improved safety outcomes
  • Capacity and capability to transition the program back to TasWater post-TasWater CDO
  • The necessary framework for emergent projects

Your Opportunity:

The Procurement Advisor is responsible for the provision of procurement of goods, materials and services for the TasWater CDO and for ensuring they meet subcontract specifications, are provided at the best cost and are delivered on a timely basis.

The Procurement Advisor will be accountable for:

  • Investigate and develop supply sources, submit for inclusion on the approved tender list and maintain communication with vendors on a regular basis.
  • Prepare RFQ documentation based on CDO templates for calling tenders including compilation of instructions to tenderers, scopes of work, preparation of draft proposed contracts, returnable schedules, evaluation criteria and any other documentation necessary to provide a complete package for pricing by the market
  • Appraise prices and conduct a commercial evaluation by liaising with the Project Manager and tenderers and advise unsuccessful bidders of result.
  • Prepare/review formal recommendations for tender packages and offers once received
  • Process purchase orders by identifying supplier from approved vendor register, by sourcing supplier and evaluating prices or by going out to tender for more costly items and placing orders with suitable vendors.
  • Ensure purchases are made at the most favourable prices consistent with desired quality, quantity, deliver time and other factors.
  • Ensure activities comply with Government Acts, statutory regulations and ethical standards.

Our minimum requirements for this role is:

  • Experience in procurement, tendering or contract management
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Ideally, minimum of 2 years + experience working in the construction industry
  • Strong contract negotiation and communication skills
  • Demonstrated skill and experience in developing and maintaining organisational procurement processes
  • Ability to review and analyse financial information

This role is based in Tasmania. For those outside of Tasmania, relocation is required. An attractive relocation package will be made available to the successful applicants.
