About the Project

The Monash Freeway is in Melbourne’s fast growing south east and outer south-east region and the $761M design and construct project will expand the Monash from eight to 10 lanes slashing nearly ten minutes off the morning peak hour commute and better connect the Monash to Eastlink.

Works include the addition of 36 kilometres of new lanes to the Monash Freeway, upgrading the Beaconsfield interchange with new freeway ramps, the extension and widening of O’Shea Road and the roll out of the Freeway Lane Management System to better manage traffic flows.

Construction is scheduled to start in early 2020 and be completed in 2022.

Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking applications for Commercial Manager to ensure commercial integrity of the project is maintained and enhanced through commercial activities and timely and accurate reporting, supporting project decision-making.

As Commercial Manager, you will be accountable for:

  • Commercial management of consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and other providers including procurement, program management, cost planning, budget/ cost management and performance monitoring forecasting
  • Managing contractual matters, negotiating and agreeing payments, variations and claims, EOT and mitigating disputes
  • Contributing to Risk Management and commercial strategy
  • Ensuring all actions are implemented and maintained in accordance with Company policy, guidelines and processes
  • Developing alignment between team capability and function’s business objectives
  • Ensuring role clarity, including responsibilities and reporting lines, exists for team members

Requirements for this role are:

  • Bachelor Degree in Quantity Surveying/ Construction Management/ Economics/ Law/ Business
  • Significant experience in a similar position having worked on major infrastructure civil or rail construction projects
  • Sound understanding of various forms of contracts and supply agreements and experience working closely with stakeholders in the resolution of disputes
  • Advanced negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management abilities
  • High level verbal and written communication skills
