The Project:

The purpose of the TasWater Capital Delivery Office (CDO) is to build the capability and capacity of TasWater to fulfil its customer promises for improved service levels by efficiently and effectively delivering an accelerated capital program of works. 
The TasWater CDO will deliver:

  • Opportunities for people to grow and develop
  • Economic benefits and growth opportunities for local industry
  • Improved safety outcomes
  • Capacity and capability to transition the program back to TasWater post-TasWater CDO
  • The necessary framework for emergent projects

Your Opportunity:

The primary purpose of this position is to effectively coordinate the design, supply and construction of designated elements within the project to ensure those elements are delivered in accordance with the technical requirements whilst also meeting safety, quality, environmental, schedule, budget and scope objectives. 

As the Project Engineer, you will be accountable for:

  • Assist the Senior Project Engineer to ensure the project delivery is executed according to the CDO Management System
  • Review and plan the project with the Project Manager to ensure works are executed in line with project milestones
  • Ensure technical objectives of the project are being met and identify and resolve technical problems
  • Monitor the project schedule and work alongside the project supervisor(s) to ensure works are being executed in line with the project schedule
  • Prepare and implement three week look ahead plans in conjunction with the project supervisor
  • Be a focal point for all technical queries for associated subcontractors / suppliers
  • Provide engineering advice to subcontractors / suppliers
  • Liaise with the Senior Project Engineer regarding schedule issues and status of activities
  • Preparation of all project execution planning documentation including Construction Area Plans, Work Activity Packs, Inspection and Test Plants etc.
  • Ensure that the quality requirements of the client are adhered to and that company procedures are followed
  • Assist the Senior Project Engineer with procurement activities
  • Ensure compliance with all HSSE policies, procedures and relevant legislative requirements.
  • Provide leadership, direction, supervision and inspirational management to all team members (direct & indirect).


Our minimum requirements for these roles are:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering/Electrical Engineering
  • Prior sub-contractor management experience and the ability to lead in the completion of key projects
  • AS9001 Quality Systems knowledge
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Previous experience in Water Treatment plant related projects is desirable
  • Strong commercial focus / business acumen

This role is based in Tasmania. For those outside of Tasmania, relocation is required. An attractive relocation package will be made available to the successful applicants.
