We strongly encourage locals in Northwest Queensland, including members of the Kalkadoon community and other First Nations people, to apply for this role on a BIBO basis. Depending on the successful candidate's location, the role can also be offered on a FIFO roster from either Townsville or Brisbane, with on-site accommodation provided.

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Maintenance Planner is responsible for scheduling and planning short to medium-term maintenance activities for all mobile plant and equipment on site.

This role ensures maintenance is carried out in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications, supporting maximum equipment availability in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.

Key responsibilities in this role will include, but not limited to:

  • Produce, review, and maintain rolling monthly, quarterly, and annual maintenance plans, including equipment specifications, tyre and undercarriage tracking files.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of equipment maintenance history, work orders, job records, and technical documentation for plant and equipment.
  • Identify upcoming maintenance needs through condition monitoring programs and financial-based work programs, providing guidance and support to Superintendents and Supervisors.
  • Develop weekly maintenance plans aligned with equipment strategies to maximise production and minimise downtime and costs, meeting plant availability and reliability targets.
  • Coordinate defect and breakdown repairs with scheduled maintenance activities, providing weekly updates on progress and alignment.
  • Utilise predictive maintenance processes to initiate re-work requests and organise additional maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure all required materials, parts, personnel, tools, permits, and equipment are available for timely execution of maintenance plans.
  • Review and audit mechanical repairs and services to ensure compliance with the Mechanical Maintenance Scheme.
  • Monitor and report on planning and scheduling effectiveness, equipment reliability, and overall maintenance department performance.
  • Manage the tyre lifecycle, ensuring maintenance and repairs are conducted in line with company policy and best practices, using the tyre management system.
  • Ensure maintenance operations are executed according to the agreed plan and scheduling sequence.

About You

You are a skilled and safety-focused maintenance professional with a strong technical foundation and a proactive approach to planning. Your ability to collaborate across teams and drive operational efficiency makes you a valuable contributor to site performance.

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a maintenance planning role, ideally within mining or heavy industry.
  • Solid background in mobile plant maintenance and a strong understanding of OEM specifications.

  • Expertise in incident investigations, with the ability to identify root causes and support the implementation of corrective actions.
  • A proactive approach to hazard identification through inspections, audits, behavioural observations, and JSEOs, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across Maintenance, Mining, and Processing teams.
  • Ability to clearly communicate weekly maintenance plans and ensure alignment with operational priorities.
