CPBJH JV brings together two of Australia's leading construction partners, CPB Contractors and John Holland, with unparalleled expertise in large-scale and complex project management, civil construction, traffic management and tunnelling.

The West Gate Tunnel is a partnership between the Victorian Government and Transurban.  The Joint Venture has been chosen as the preferred contractor for construction, which will begin in 2018 following planning assessment.

About the Project

The West Gate Tunnel Project is a city-shaping project that will deliver a vital alternative to the West Gate Bridge, provide quicker and safer journeys, and remove thousands of trucks off residential streets. The project will include:

  • Widening the West Gate Freeway from eight lanes to 12 between the M80 Ring Road and Williamstown Road;
  • Building a 2.8km eastbound tunnel and a 4km westbound tunnel under Yarraville;
  • Constructing a bridge over the Maribyrnong River providing an alternative to the West Gate Bridge;
  • Constructing an elevated road along Footscray Road to the Port of Melbourne; and
  • Major new cycling and pedestrian paths.

Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced project coordinator professional with expertise in sourcing, procurement coordination, and commercial / basic contract administration to undertake the position of Project Coordinator.

As Project Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating and leading the estimating team to obtain best value for money goods and services for tendering and project delivery purposes.  You will be accountable for supporting coordination of tasks related to the procurement of goods and services for the implementation of the project including:

  • Provide procurement related recommendations and support to staff to ensure compliance with procurement policies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with relevant suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Participate in and support industry supply management groups and initiatives.
  • Proactively seek suppliers who can support achievement of tender KPIs sought by Government contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements and all relevant project policies and processes.
  • Ensure suppliers comply with procurement KPI requirements.
  • Prepare and issue RFPs and RFQs for a range of goods and services in accordance with CPBJH JV guidelines and policies.
  • Evaluate tenders and quotes in accordance with CPBJH JV guidelines and policies.
  • Negotiate contract arrangements with tenderers to ensure best value is achieved.
  • Provide contract management services including ensuring compliance with terms and conditions of contracts, addressing delays, assisting in contract amendments, variations and ensuring completion of works and delivery of goods.
  • Establish and rationalise agreements with key suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Establish, monitor and maintain effective contract and supplier databases.
  • Ensure that all approvals and procurements records are kept safely and filed appropriately.
  • Setting up required registers and maintaining them.
  • Provide accurate, comprehensive and timely reports to management.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve efficiencies and value for money

Our minimum requirements for these roles are:

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in procurement, tendering and/or contract management will be highly regarded.
  • At least five years’ experience working in the construction industry in a similar position.
  • Exceptional contract negotiation, dispute resolution and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated skill and experience in developing and maintaining organisational procurement processes.
  • Understanding of contract and trade practices law, as well as competitive tendering policies.
  • Ability to review and analyse financial information.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
