About the role

Thiess Mt Arthur is situated 5 kms from Muswellbrook in the Picturesque Hunter Valley, you will be working a 5/2 dayshift roster. This is a residential position and great opportunity to join our World Class Operation.

As a valued member of our Technical Services team, as the Senior Mining Engineer you would work collaboratively towards delivery high quality solutions and results. Optimising our production planning in order to maximise value for out clients.

In this role, you will but not limited to:

  • Overseeing the execution of the mine planning function
  • Providing schedules for dig, dump, haulage and bulk dozing processes
  • Engaging with Production staff to ensure plans are being executed as per design
  • Assessing the technical risk in mine plans and developing mitigation strategies
  • Completing the end of month reconciliation and reporting process
  • Assessing opportunities to maximise equipment utilisation and productivity
  • Preparing inputs for the control budget process
  • Providing training, coaching and mentoring support to junior engineers
  • Driving continuous improvement in the Mine Planning team
  • Building and maintaining a strong relationship with the Client

About you

  • Strong safety focus, efficient, cost effective and innovative whilst ensuring production targets are met
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Mining or Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 7 years' site/project experience in an operation mine engineering capacity (truck, excavate, bulk dozing and open cut coal/metalliferous mining)
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams
  • Advanced skills in drill and blast, mine planning, design and scheduling (minimum 2 years scheduling experience)
  • Understanding of through seam mining and coal quality an advantage
