CBGU JV is working on Queensland’s largest infrastructure project and we’re building our team for the future. CBGU JV brings together CPB Contractors, BAM, Ghella and UGL to deliver the Tunnel and Station Package for Brisbane’s Cross River Rail, the 10.2 kilometre rail line between Dutton Park and Bowen Hills, including 5.9 kilometres of tunnel under the Brisbane River and CBD. The project also includes construction of four new underground stations at Roma Street, Albert Street, Boggo Road and Woolloongabba, where the future upgraded Olympic stadium will stand.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Mechanical Lead Engineer will sit within the construction delivery team. You will effectively coordinate the design, and construction elements for a designated area on the project to ensure safety, time, cost and environmental objectives are achieved.

You will be responsible to:-

  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to the safety and health framework, policies and management system requirements and expectations.
  • Develop and maintain an awareness of SHE hazards and associated risks and demonstrate a commitment to eliminate or minimise those risks.
  • Understand and effectively undertake SHE accountabilities.
  • Manage the effective set-up, delivery and completion of the project including establishing relevant systems
  • Manage and monitor the completion of the project to ensure programme, budget, quality, environmental and contractual obligations are achieved and taking prompt corrective action where required
  • Review design and construction plans, schedules, temporary works designs, method statements and job safety analysis and quality plans
  • Monitor project progress against the programme and budget
  • Prepare accurate project reports
  • Effectively assign tasks to project team members to deliver the required outputs to agreed specifications
  • Ensure the project is adequately resourced to deliver project requirements in the with the programme and contractual agreements
  • Understand and report on project risks and opportunities
  • Monitor KPIs and productivity analysis against programme and budget
  • Undertake other administrative duties as required
  • Plan and schedule own work to meet required timelines and outputs

Minimum Requirements for the role:-

  • Minimum 7 years relevant construction experience
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering Mechanical
  • Manage self and team within discipline to deliver construction work
  • Development methodologies to ensure compliance with scope of works and technical criteria (within discipline)
  • Experience in assembly and maintenance of heavy construction equipment
  • Experience in steel works an advantage
  • Demonstrated site experience coordinating subcontractors, preferably in a large-scale infrastructure project environment. With experience in post-tensioning being desirable.
  • Knowledge of project management structure, plans, specification, standards and implications for project accountabilities.
  • Pre-contracts knowledge in relation to design, planning and legislative requirements
  • Effective time management skills including sequencing of work of own and resource management.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles to comply with scope of works and technical criteria.
  • Experienced in overseeing subcontractor safety, quality and progress to achieve desired project outcomes.
